Armenia has witnessed a substantial surge in its fruit exports to Russia during the first half of 2024, with exports of apples and apricots notably increasing. Gevorg Papoyan, Armenian Minister of Economy, announced at a press conference that from January 1 to June 10, 2024, fruit exports to Russia have grown by 2.1 times compared to the same period last year.
Papoyan highlighted that unlike 2023, when exports primarily comprised re-exported kiwi, 2024 has seen a marked rise in the export of locally grown pears, apples, apricots, and cherries from Armenia.
Addressing concerns about potential economic or logistical hurdles affecting exports to Russia, Papoyan assured that no such issues have been identified thus far.
This increase in fruit exports underscores Armenia’s growing presence in the Russian market and reflects positive trends in agricultural production and trade relations between the two countries.
