by Ella

The Kansas Department of Commerce has unveiled plans for the state’s first-ever Kansas Global Cuisines and Cultures Week, scheduled for March 16-22, 2025. This initiative, led by the department’s newly-formed Global Resources unit, aims to showcase Kansas’ diverse international food, arts, and cultural offerings, while promoting the state’s global business potential.

Spreading Awareness Across Kansas

To prepare for the upcoming event, the Global Resources team has already embarked on an ambitious statewide tour. Over the fall, the team plans to visit more than 80 locations throughout the Sunflower State to raise awareness about the campaign. During just one week in September, they traveled nearly 1,400 miles, holding 35 meetings in 19 different communities.

The Global Resources team was established to bolster the state’s international presence. Their focus includes enhancing business talent development, trade infrastructure, supply chain networks, and research capabilities. The team’s efforts are aimed at expanding Kansas’ role in the global economy.

Laurie Pieper, Assistant Director for Global Resources, highlighted the broader economic potential of the event:

“By getting our businesses and communities involved in featuring what Kansas has to offer, Kansas Global Cuisines and Cultures Week will help showcase the state as an attractive location for international business.”

As Kansas prepares for its first Global Cuisines and Cultures Week, the event is expected to not only enrich local communities but also position the state as a key player in international business and cultural exchange.
