by Ella

A Family Recipe Takes Center Stage

Éric, a finalist from Alsace on the show “My Recipe is the Best in France,” showcased his unique take on the traditional Linz tart. This beloved dessert blends emotion, tradition, and innovation, reflecting Éric’s family history.

A Dessert Filled with Emotion

Hailing from Burnhaupt-le-Bas in Haut-Rhin, Éric has made it to the finals with his reimagined version of the classic Linz tart. His recipe, inspired by his mother’s teachings, typically includes jam, but Éric has opted for roasted honey fruits and vanilla cream to give it a fresh twist.

“This dessert symbolizes my connection to my roots. I enjoyed this tart on Sunday afternoons with my mother and grandmother,” Éric reminisces. After his mother’s passing, he rediscovered the recipe for “Linzertorte,” adding significant meaning to his participation in the show.

A Modernized Alsatian Recipe

The Linz tart is a staple in Alsace, famous for its cinnamon and almond flavors, often associated with Christmas markets. Éric has modernized the dish by incorporating whole fruits, making it lighter and less sweet.

His innovative approach successfully captured the attention of the judges with a fine balance between tradition and modernity. However, the question remains: did he convince them enough to win the competition? “I’m watching it tonight with friends. I told them to bring a bottle of champagne…and some tissues,” says Éric.

Fans are hopeful that Éric will celebrate a victory tonight. The results will be revealed on October 4 at 6:30 PM on M6.
