Located in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood, Gavroche is a unique dining experience that blends “new-school” and “old-school” French cuisine. Executive chef Mitchell Acuña describes the restaurant as a creative fusion of both styles, with Acuña representing the “new-school” and owner Jason Chan, also a chef, bringing in the “old-school” approach.
“We’re kind of taking French classics and spinning them on its head,” Acuña explains. “It’s modern French cuisine with our own twist.”
A Cozy and Intimate Dining Experience
Gavroche is a small, intimate spot, with only about 25 seats. This limited seating adds to the charm of the restaurant, making it a cozy place for diners to enjoy expertly crafted dishes in a relaxed atmosphere.
Chef Acuña’s Appearance on WGN
This week, Acuña joined Tim Joyce on WGN Weekend Morning News for the Sunday Brunch segment. Together, they prepared a special Parisian-style gnocchi, showcasing the creativity and skill that defines the menu at Gavroche. The segment offers a peek into the restaurant’s innovative approach to French cuisine.
