Publix has launched its new spring lineup of eight limited-edition ice cream flavors, hitting stores in early March. These flavors, inspired by classic desserts, will be available until supplies run out, according to spokeswoman Lindsey Willis. This marks the first of three seasonal releases Publix rolls out annually, with future summer and holiday flavors expected later in the year.
The New Spring Flavors
The following eight flavors are now available in Publix stores:
Bananas Foster: Banana-flavored ice cream with a brown sugar rum swirl.
Black Swamp Raspberry Cheesecake: Raspberry cheesecake ice cream swirled with Mackinac chocolate graham crust and raspberry-filled chocolate cups.
Cinnamon Streusel Praline: Brown sugar ice cream with a cinnamon streusel swirl, sticky bun dough, and praline pecans.
Irish Crème Salted Caramel (coming soon): Irish crème ice cream with a caramel sea salt swirl and caramel truffles.
New Orleans Caramel Praline: Brown sugar ice cream with thick caramel swirls and crunchy praline pecans.
Peanut Butter Pie: Peanut butter cheesecake ice cream with Mackinac peanut butter cookie ribbons and chocolate-flavored pieces.
Strawberry Shortcake: Butter crème ice cream with strawberry sauce ribbons and squares of soft shortcake.
The S’more the Merrier: Toasted marshmallow ice cream with graham cracker ribbons and chocolate marshmallows.
Award-Winning Flavors
Several of Publix’s returning spring ice cream flavors have earned recognition at industry competitions hosted by the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA). The IDFA’s Ice Cream & Cultural Innovation Conference, set to take place in Fort Lauderdale on April 1-2, will bring together ice cream professionals to discuss trends and celebrate innovation in the industry.
Irish Crème Salted Caramel received a Most Innovative Flavor award in 2019, competing with other flavors like Kemps’ Scotcheroo, which took first place.
Black Swamp Raspberry Cheesecake placed third overall in 2015, with Perry’s Ice Cream from New York winning for their German Chocolate Cake flavor.
Cinnamon Streusel Praline won the Most Innovative Flavor award in 2007, previously known as Sticky Bun.
Publix’s creative offerings continue to make waves in the industry, earning accolades alongside other standout flavors and products.
