Arlington residents with a passion for cooking will soon have the chance to explore global flavors at the East Library and Recreation Center. The center is launching a series of cooking workshops designed for aspiring chefs aged 13 and up. Each week, participants will dive into the art of preparing traditional dishes from different cultures.
Workshop Schedule
The series kicks off on September 14 with a workshop focused on baking “Conchas,” a type of Mexican sweet bread. Following this, participants will learn to make “Spanish Empanadas” and “Tamales” in subsequent sessions on Wednesdays. Each workshop will be led by an experienced instructor who will guide attendees through the preparation and cooking processes.
What to Expect
All necessary supplies for the workshops will be provided, so participants only need to bring their enthusiasm and appetite. After mastering the recipes, attendees will have the opportunity to take their creations home, allowing them to enjoy the results of their culinary efforts.
Family-Friendly Environment
The Arlington Parks and Recreation Department emphasizes that the workshops are designed to be family-friendly. Participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult to ensure a supportive learning environment and to assist with the cooking process.
How to Register
Registration for the workshops is now open. Interested individuals can sign up via the provided link. Given the limited number of spaces available, those interested are encouraged to register promptly to secure their spot.
These workshops offer a unique opportunity to celebrate diverse cuisines and build community spirit through the shared joy of cooking.
