What is Thakkaram?
Thakkaram refers to a traditional feast prepared for guests in the Malabar region of Kerala. This pop-up features a 16-dish tasting menu specially curated by home chefs from Kannur, a city in the heart of Malabar. The dishes promise an authentic experience of the bold and subtle flavors unique to the region.
What’s on the Menu?
The feast offers a wide array of traditional hand-rolled dishes, including:
- Pathiri (rice flour flatbreads)
- Chammandi (spicy coconut chutney)
- Unnakaya (fried plantain rolls stuffed with coconut and jaggery)
- Ela Ada (steamed rice cakes wrapped in banana leaves)
- Porotta (layered flatbreads)
- Samosas
The highlight of the event is the famous Malabar biryani, known for its subtle flavors. The dish is served with crispy papadum and a tangy date pickle.
