A New Culinary Destination
Bombay Republic has opened its doors in Richardson, offering a vibrant atmosphere and authentic Indian flavors. The restaurant aims to fill a gap in the local dining scene with its elevated experience.
Authentic Indian Flavors
Franchise owner Soumya Karthikeyan emphasized the restaurant’s diverse menu, which features a blend of North Indian, Chinese, and South Indian cuisine. “We cater to those who love creamy North Indian food as well as those who prefer spicy South Indian dishes,” she said.
Soumya and her husband, Karthikeyan Sridharan, sought to create a fine dining Indian restaurant in a community they felt needed one. This venture also fulfills Soumya’s dream of sharing her passion for food and culture.
A Passion for Cooking
“Soumya is a natural chef,” Karthikeyan said. “We love trying different cuisines, which inspired us to open this restaurant.” Their journey began when they partnered with the Kailash Parbat Group, a well-established restaurant franchise known for authentic Indian cuisine. The Bombay Republic brand was launched in 2023, featuring a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes along with a full bar offering unique Indian beverages.
Unique Dining Experience
Karthikeyan noted, “It’s rare to find an Indian restaurant with fine dining and a full bar.” This uniqueness sets Bombay Republic apart in the Richardson area.
The restaurant’s menu was crafted in collaboration with Michelin-star chef Hari Nayak, combining traditional and contemporary Indian dishes. Standout items include burrata chicken, a fusion of cheese and grilled chicken in tomato gravy, and butter chicken baos, steamed buns filled with the classic dish. “The burrata chicken and butter chicken baos are our favorites,” Soumya shared.
Rich Ambience
Diners can enjoy a daily lunch buffet amidst the restaurant’s Mumbai-inspired decor. The walls are adorned with vibrant colors and Bollywood actor photos, creating a warm, welcoming environment. “As soon as you enter, the bright orange interior is inviting,” Soumya said.
Community Engagement
The team plans to expand the menu further, adding South Indian spices and fusion dishes like dosas, sizzlers, and burgers. They also aim to engage with the local community by offering catering services, hosting private events, and supporting nonprofit organizations. “We want to give back. If local nonprofits need our help, they can reach out,” Soumya said.
