A Celebration of Hygiene and Local Delicacies
In an effort to promote cleanliness and showcase local cuisine, the District Administration of Tezu organized a vibrant Food Street Mela as part of the Swacchta Hi Seva Campaign. The event took place in collaboration with the District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) and the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, under the theme “Swachh Food Street.”
Local Vendors Highlight Culinary Diversity
The Food Street Mela featured stalls from local street food vendors, offering a diverse range of culinary delights. Each vendor adhered to strict health, hygiene, and sanitation norms, ensuring that the food served was safe and hygienic for all attendees.
Emphasis on Cleanliness from District Leaders
Deputy Commissioner Shashvat Saurabh, who attended the event as the chief guest, emphasized the importance of cleanliness in everyday life. He pointed out the negative impact of consuming unhygienic food and stressed that the initiative aimed to engage the community in the administration’s cleanliness efforts.
“It is crucial for everyone to internalize the message of cleanliness and promote it across the district,” he urged, calling on the youth and all citizens to take the lead in this important cause.
Encouragement for Street Vendors
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kunal Yadav, IAS, also spoke at the event, discussing the Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme. He encouraged eligible participants to take advantage of the benefits this scheme offers to improve their businesses.
Community Engagement and Enjoyment
Attendees expressed enthusiasm for the Food Street Mela, noting that it was the first event of its kind in the district. Many enjoyed the delicious food while appreciating the innovative approach to promoting cleanliness within the community. Participants agreed that the Mela not only provided a fun recreational outlet but also effectively conveyed important health messages.
Launch of Youth Campaign and Distribution of Water Filters
During the program, the DC of Lohit also launched the 60 Days Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 2.0. Additionally, water filters were distributed to street vendors as part of the initiative, sponsored by local banking institutions.
The Food Street Mela successfully highlighted the importance of hygiene and showcased the rich culinary culture of Tezu, making it a memorable event for all involved.
