A delightful showcase of Thai cuisine featured the preparation of three iconic dishes: Massaman Curry, Tom Yum Kung, and the famous Pad Thai. Chef Kamol Chobdee-ngam expertly demonstrated the cooking process while explaining the unique ingredients of each dish to the guests.
Thai Ambassador Highlights Culinary Significance
The Thai ambassador, Vosita Vorasaph, expressed enthusiasm for showcasing the rich flavors of Thailand’s culinary heritage. “This initiative emphasizes that the Thai government views food as a friendly currency, promoting both economic and cultural growth. Our goal is to position Thailand as a key player in the global economy,” he stated during his speech.
Aiming for Regional Hub Status
Ambassador Vorasaph further noted, “We aspire to make Thailand a regional hub in eight major industries, with food being a vital component for promoting global food security and developing the future food industry.” He highlighted that Thailand has long been recognized for its culinary excellence, thanks to its abundant natural resources, year-round growing season, and significant investment in food innovation.
Positive Outlook for Thai Food Exports
During his address, the ambassador revealed that last year, Thai food exports reached approximately 36.5 billion euros, with expectations for a two percent increase this year. “Currently, we have over a hundred Thai restaurants in Spain. There is considerable potential for the Thai food industry to grow, attracting both locals and foreigners who enjoy dining out, as well as those eager to learn how to cook Thai dishes themselves,” he added.
Promoting Accessibility and Cooking Techniques
Ambassador Vorasaph underscored Chef Kamol Chobdee-ngam’s contributions and expressed confidence that this event would further enhance the popularity of Thai cuisine. He emphasized the accessibility of Thai ingredients and the simplicity of basic Thai cooking techniques.

The event also saw the presence of ambassadors from India and New Zealand, as well as representatives from the embassies of Canada, Pakistan, and Indonesia. Additionally, Thai businessman Jimmy Lim, based in Spain, attended the demonstration, highlighting the international interest in Thai cuisine.
