For the past eighteen years, Nicole Boisramé and Jean-Paul Edelin have been leading cooking workshops at Episol, the solidarity grocery store in Vitré, Ille-et-Vilaine, benefiting those in need.
Cooking Together
On Monday, September 30, 2024, the menu features paella and apple crepe cake. “These recipes are primarily made with products available at the grocery store,” says Nicole Boisramé. The workshops are open to grocery beneficiaries, requiring prior registration to plan for ingredients.
A Special Gathering
This Monday’s event is unique; it serves as the annual meal typically held in June. “We postponed it because I was ill at that time,” Nicole explains. What makes this annual meal special is the communal aspect. Participants gather to enjoy the prepared dishes together at Episol. On other Mondays, which occur bi-weekly, an average of five to six participants attend. Each participant then takes home a dish and a dessert for their family, as noted by Jean-Paul Edelin.
These workshops not only teach cooking skills but also foster a sense of community among participants, helping to strengthen social ties within the community.
