Didier Guillot, the chef at Villa Romana in Labarthe-sur-Lèze, located south of Toulouse, is set to appear on the new cooking show “The Best Regional Cuisine is at My Place!” This program will be broadcast on M6 and hosted by Norbert Tarayre.
A Passion for Cooking and Game Shows
Didier is not just a passionate chef; he also loves game shows. He said, “I have been participating in games of all kinds for 12 years. The last one was The Price is Right, where I didn’t win. However, the most challenging and exciting was the adventure game The Bridge, the Treasure of Patagonia, hosted by Stéphane Rotenberg. The conditions were as tough as Koh-Lanta, but it was a fantastic experience.”
A New Challenge Ahead
Now, Didier is focused on his latest challenge. “This has been an extraordinary adventure,” he shared. “Norbert is a great guy, and what he said about me really touched me. He called me a slightly quirky poet, but warned others not to underestimate me. The first day of filming, the jury, made up of Norbert Tarayre and Yohann Conte, two exceptionally talented chefs, came to taste my revamped dishes that highlight our Toulouse region. The second day was spent filming all the preparations. This show will be a great showcase; it’s a cooking competition against eight restaurateurs from Occitanie.”
Commitment to Authenticity
As a true restaurateur, Didier values authenticity in his cuisine. “I create dishes based on market products; it’s a farm-to-table approach,” he explained. “I try to constantly update my menu for regular customers. Sylvie has supported my character in service for two years, and Pablo, a charming young man, helps me out on weekends.”
Didier has run Villa Romana for six years. “In another life, I was the chef at La Bohème in Muret for 20 years. I’ve been in Labarthe for six years, taking over Villa Romana. I always wondered why fate led me here. Two years ago, I had a revelation when I met the love of my life, Julie. I call her Mouchou, which means ‘kiss’ in Basque. Since then, I’ve been the happiest man alive; it’s a beautiful romance. Maybe Villa Romana could become Villa Mouchou,” he smiled.
