Analysts evaluated 182 cities based on two main categories: affordability and diversity, and quality. Atlanta ranked 167th in affordability but excelled in quality, achieving 7th place.

Miami claimed the top spot as the best foodie city in the U.S., boasting an impressive score of 74.37. San Francisco followed at 2nd with a score of 71.66, and Orlando took 3rd with a score of 71.43.
WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo commented, “In the best foodie cities, including Miami, San Francisco, and Orlando, there are numerous unique culinary experiences to explore, from food trucks to Michelin-starred restaurants.”
He noted that these cities cater not only to those who enjoy dining out but also to food enthusiasts who want to experiment with new flavors in their own kitchens. Furthermore, they provide affordable dining options for both residents and visitors.
Evaluation Methodology
Analysts assessed 28 metrics, examining factors such as grocery costs and the availability of high-quality restaurants. According to WalletHub, the worst foodie city in the U.S. is Pearl City, Hawaii. Santa Rosa, California, has the highest grocery prices, while Missoula, Montana, offers the best average prices for food and wine.
Atlanta’s ranking reflects its growing culinary scene, which includes a mix of traditional Southern cuisine and innovative dining options. The city’s diverse food culture offers a variety of experiences for residents and tourists alike.
