Cardiff Welcomes Terra Mare, Showcasing Flavours of Southern Italy

Today, Terra Mare, a new restaurant offering the authentic cuisine of Puglia, Southern Italy, opens its doors in Cardiff, adding a fresh dimension to the city’s vibrant dining scene.

A Taste of Italy in the Heart of Cardiff

Located in a former cocktail bar on High Street, just steps away from Cardiff Castle, Terra Mare has undergone a stunning transformation. The restaurant features a beautifully designed 50-seat dining room, along with additional seating at the front bar and on an outdoor terrace.

A Menu Rooted in Tradition

At the core of Terra Mare is a menu inspired by the rich culinary heritage of Puglia. The kitchen is led by Chef Francesco Germinario, whose Puglian roots are evident in every dish. His menu blends traditional recipes with modern flair, including daily handmade pastas—a signature of his cooking.

Chef Francesco brings his experience from top kitchens in London to Terra Mare, infusing each dish with the flavours of his homeland while adding innovative touches. The menu offers a true Italian dining experience, with options ranging from small plates to a full seven-course tasting menu.

A Relaxed Bar Experience

In the bar area, Terra Mare offers a selection of expertly crafted cocktails, draught beer, and premium wines. A concise bar snacks menu is also available, featuring dishes like Fritto Misto (deep-fried fish with Pembrokeshire seaweed and olive & caper mayo), Bruschetta topped with Stracciatella, tomatoes, and anchovies, and Ragu Orecchiette, a slow-cooked feather blade of beef with parsley pistou and a cheese crisp.
