Chef Billy Joe Wilson has officially joined the culinary team at The Local Fix, bringing over 30 years of experience and a passion for innovative cuisine. Known for his unique flair in the kitchen, Wilson is excited to introduce fresh, seasonal dishes to the restaurant’s menu.
A Storied Career in the Culinary World
Wilson’s culinary journey began at the age of 15 when he started as a dishwasher. After pursuing his studies, he moved to Austin, where he quickly advanced to the role of executive chef. Over the years, he has worked at renowned establishments such as Eat’s Port A, Billy Joe’s Craft House, and Black Sheep Soul, gaining recognition for his take on Southern Gourmet and Soul Food Cuisine.
One of his notable acts of community service came after Hurricane Harvey. In 2017, Wilson and his team, supported by generous donations, prepared and served a Thanksgiving meal to about 300 people at Billy Joe’s Craft House in Port Aransas. The meal, which included smoked turkey, sides, and pie, was offered free of charge to those in need.
A Commitment to Local Ingredients and Bold Flavors
“I am thrilled to join The Local Fix and look forward to creating memorable dishes that not only celebrate flavor but also highlight the incredible ingredients from our local farmers and producers,” said Wilson. His goal is to craft dishes that engage guests with exciting culinary experiences that will keep them coming back for more.
Wilson unveiled his new menu at The Local Fix on December 1, showcasing seasonal ingredients and his signature creative approach to cooking.
