Finger Lickin’ Chicken Week, an annual event honoring Corbin’s rich culinary history as the birthplace of the original KFC, is scheduled to run from January 27 to February 2, 2025. The week-long celebration will offer a flavorful start to the new year, with participating local restaurants showcasing creative chicken dishes that highlight the region’s signature flavors.
A Local Tradition with Growing Popularity
The event, which has become a beloved tradition in Corbin, serves as a tribute to the town’s culinary heritage. According to Nancy Conley, Director of the Corbin Tourism and Convention Commission, Chicken Week is gaining significant popularity. “Looking at different food weeks that Corbin offers, this is usually one of the top food weeks,” Conley shared. “Burger Week is our most popular, but Chicken Week has gained a lot of popularity when looking back historically.”
Though slightly delayed this year, the event is expected to be well worth the wait. “This Chicken Week has been pushed back a week compared to last year. When we looked at the forecasted weather, we just wanted to give people ample time to submit for Finger Lickin’ Chicken Week,” Conley explained.
Excitement Among Local Restaurants
Participating restaurants are enthusiastic about joining the celebration. “In tourism’s communications with restaurants, a lot of restaurants are very excited to be a part of Finger Lickin’ Chicken Week and to have a chance to come up with new creations and flavors,” Conley added.
Restaurants will feature unique and inventive chicken dishes throughout the week, with full details, including a list of participating establishments, set to be announced soon. This annual event promises to be a must-visit for food enthusiasts and chicken lovers alike.
