The Bluegrass Bourbon Dessert Bar is set to open its doors in Owensboro on January 13, offering a unique dessert experience with a Kentucky twist. The bar promises a variety of homemade desserts, some with a “boozy twist,” providing a special treat for dessert lovers in the area. The desserts will feature fresh, scratch-made ingredients and unique flavors curated by owner Tyler Dill.
Homemade and Crafted with Care
Owner Tyler Dill is committed to using only the freshest ingredients to make every dessert from scratch. “Whatever can be homemade will be made from scratch,” Dill explained. For instance, the pie dough is crafted in-house, and the cheesecake is described as “light and fluffy, not like any cheesecake you’ve had before.” Dill, who has extensive culinary experience, including working at steakhouses, barbecue restaurants, and assisted living centers, brings his passion for making special desserts to his new business venture.
A Menu with Seasonal and Boozy Options
Bluegrass Bourbon Dessert Bar will feature a rotating seasonal menu along with holiday-themed desserts. Customers can look forward to indulgent options such as chocolate cake with peanut butter whiskey frosting and bourbon caramel sauce. While the dessert bar offers alcohol-infused treats, Dill ensures that the alcohol can be omitted for family-friendly options.
“Everything is individualized or shareable,” Dill said, emphasizing the versatility of the menu. Whether it’s a romantic date night, a post-symphony treat, or a cup of fresh-ground coffee paired with homemade pie, there will be something for everyone.
A Focus on Local Ingredients and Community Support
The Bluegrass Bourbon Dessert Bar is committed to sourcing Kentucky-made spirits when possible, featuring selections from local distilleries such as Green River Distilling Co. and Old Bardstown. Dill also plans to incorporate community support into his business model, including raffles for local charities and donating unsold desserts after three days to those in need.
“If there are people in need, they’ll be able to get a pecan pie, chocolate cake, apple pie, or cheesecake,” Dill shared.
Catering to Special Dietary Needs
Dill also plans to cater to guests with dietary restrictions. The dessert bar is working on offering gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free options. Dill takes allergies seriously, with separate mixers for non-gluten and non-nut products to ensure the safety of guests.
A Cozy Spot with Local Art
The Bluegrass Bourbon Dessert Bar, located at 231 Williamsburg Square, will feature artwork by local artist Emma Pearcy, showcasing Kentucky culture. The bar will operate Monday through Saturday from 3-11 p.m., providing a welcoming space for customers to enjoy their sweet treats.
With a focus on homemade desserts, local ingredients, and community support, Bluegrass Bourbon Dessert Bar is poised to become a sweet spot in Owensboro’s culinary scene.
