Scarpetta, a new pasta bar, is challenging the typical Italian dining experience. Known for its fresh and authentic take on Italian cuisine, the restaurant is set to redefine your understanding of pasta and Italian food.
A True Italian Tradition
The name “Scarpetta” comes from the Italian tradition of “La Scarpetta,” which refers to the practice of using bread to mop up every last drop of delicious sauce. At Scarpetta, leaving sauce behind is nearly considered a crime. This philosophy is reflected in every dish they serve, ensuring each meal is filled with heart and soul.
Not Just Pasta: A Flavorful Experience
While Scarpetta is famous for its pasta, the appetizers are just as impressive. The Cozze alla Marinara, featuring plump mussels in a spicy tomato broth, is a must-try. For something creamier, the Burrata is a perfect choice, with its smooth cheese, cherry tomatoes, pesto, and basil oil. For a heartier option, try the Tuscan Toasts, made with Schiacciata bread and topped with luxurious ingredients like Stracciatella, uni, and bone marrow.
The Art of Pasta at Scarpetta
Headed by Chef Danny Ng, Scarpetta’s pasta dishes are a blend of simplicity and sophistication. With high-quality ingredients and expert techniques, each dish is designed to elevate Italian classics. From the minimalist Cacio e Pepe to the bold Spicy alla Vodka, Scarpetta’s menu offers something for every pasta lover.
One standout dish is the Bolognese Ravioli, filled with rich beef cheek, bone marrow, sun-dried tomatoes, and aged Parmigiano. This pasta is a full explosion of flavor and texture.
Each pasta dish is served with freshly baked Schiacciata bread, ensuring that no sauce is left behind.
Sweet Endings to Complete Your Meal
Scarpetta’s desserts provide the perfect ending to any meal. The traditional Tiramisu offers layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone. The Cannoli delivers a satisfying crunch filled with pistachio ricotta. For a unique treat, try the Affogato, where milk gelato is paired with a shot of ristretto, or the Gelato con Olio, drizzled with Umbrian olive oil and sea salt for a surprising twist.
A Dining Experience Like No Other
Scarpetta is more than just a place to eat; it’s an experience. With a cozy setting that seats only 30 people, the intimate atmosphere encourages connection with both the food and the chefs. The Chef’s Table offers a front-row seat to the culinary process, making each meal feel like a performance.
Opening on February 7, 2025, Scarpetta is kicking off with a special offer. The first 100 guests at lunch and dinner can enjoy a complimentary pasta dish. For dessert lovers, an ice cream cart will be stationed outside, serving free servings of Gelato con Olio. The celebration continues on February 8, 2025, with a traditional lion dance performance at 2 pm to mark the launch.
