by Ella

Virginians across the Blue Ridge region are gearing up for a celebration of local flavors during VBR Restaurant Week, set to take place from May 31 to June 8. Participating restaurants will represent the City of Roanoke, Roanoke County, Vinton, Salem, Botetourt County, and Franklin County, showcasing a variety of specialty dishes from the heart of the region.

A Flavorful Partnership

“We’re thrilled to partner with neighboring municipalities to highlight the vibrant culinary scene as we welcome the summer season,” said Joe Cobb, Mayor of the City of Roanoke. With an abundance of food lovers and talented chefs offering diverse cuisines, VBR Restaurant Week promises to be an exciting and enjoyable experience for both residents and visitors alike.

Supporting Local Businesses

VBR Restaurant Week offers a great opportunity to explore new dining spots while supporting the local businesses in the community. Amy White, Chair of the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors, emphasized the importance of the event for both restaurants and diners. “It’s a chance for people to discover new places to eat and for restaurants to attract new customers and try new menu options,” she said. White also expressed gratitude to Shop Botetourt for their support in this initiative, urging people to “eat local.”

Franklin County Joins the Celebration

Ronnie Thompson, Chairman of the Franklin County Board of Supervisors, expressed his excitement about Franklin County’s involvement. “Our local restaurants in Franklin County, the Town of Rocky Mount, and the Town of Boones Mill are serving up some of the best meals around,” Thompson said. “This is a great opportunity to showcase them and support the hardworking people who make our dining scene so special.”

A Chance to Try Something New

For Anne-Marie Green, Vice Mayor of Salem, the event is about supporting local businesses and discovering new dining experiences. “Local businesses are the heart of Salem, and VBR Restaurant Week is the perfect chance to visit a new place or try something different at your favorite restaurant,” she said.

Boosting the Regional Economy

This collaboration will not only introduce diners to the diverse culinary offerings in the region but also provide a platform for local restaurants to reach a broader audience, which could help strengthen the regional economy. “Our region has a wide array of dining options, offering something for everyone,” said David Radford, Chairman of the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors. “This event is a perfect opportunity to showcase our local restaurants and support our vibrant restaurant community.”

Vinton Shines with Culinary Diversity

Brad Grose, Mayor of the Town of Vinton, added, “VBR Restaurant Week is a fantastic way to highlight the variety of cuisines and experiences offered by local restaurants in Vinton and across the region.” The event promises to be a flavorful showcase of Virginia’s Blue Ridge’s unique culinary character and culture.
