Maine Restaurant Week will begin on Saturday, March 1, and run through March 12, offering locals and visitors a chance to enjoy special deals at more than 70 participating restaurants across the state.
Since its inception in 2008, the event has provided a much-needed boost to Maine’s restaurants during the quieter winter months. This year, eateries from Presque Isle to Kennebunk are taking part in the celebration of Maine’s culinary scene.
A Delicious Tradition
Each restaurant has the option to offer a special three-course menu or create unique Maine Restaurant Week specials for their customers. Gillian Britt, co-founder of the event, explains that many restaurants return year after year because it feels like a “summer week of business, but in March.”
As Britt notes, “After New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day, there’s a long stretch without any holidays. With the summer season still months away, it’s a perfect time to remind people to get out of their houses and into restaurants.”
Maine Restaurant Week continues to grow in popularity, attracting food lovers eager to support local businesses during a traditionally slower time of the year.
