Senza Fondo, a new restaurant in Shoreditch, is set to offer a unique twist on the dining experience with its all-you-can-eat bottomless lasagne. The Italian-American eatery promises to live up to its name, which translates to “without end,” by giving customers the chance to indulge in unlimited lasagne servings.
A New Dining Experience in Shoreditch
Senza Fondo is opening in one of London’s most creative neighborhoods, Shoreditch, with its soft opening scheduled for 20 February and the official launch following on 24 February. The restaurant is already accepting reservations for both dates.
The star of the show is the bottomless lasagne, available for £20 per person. Diners can enjoy as many servings of the hearty dish as they desire in one sitting. Although lasagne takes center stage, the menu also includes other Italian-American favorites like mushroom ragu pasta, small pepperoni pizzettes, and a variety of off-menu items.
The Perfect Lasagne: Layers of Flavor
The process of making Senza Fondo’s lasagne is as detailed as it is delicious. Slow-cooked beef shin is simmered for five hours, while garlic and herb butter are incorporated into the creamy bechamel sauce. The lasagne sheets are layered with this rich filling and topped with fresh parmesan. Afterward, each slice is wood-fired to create a crispy top before being served with an extra ladle of bechamel sauce.
In addition to the classic beef lasagne, Senza Fondo also offers a bottomless artichoke lasagne, ensuring a vegetarian-friendly option for diners. Both options are available at the same price.
Chef Michael Bagnall Leads the Kitchen
At the helm of the kitchen is Chef Michael Bagnall, known for his previous work at Naughty Piglets in Brixton and Bruno Wine Bar in Hackney. Under his leadership, the kitchen promises to deliver high-quality dishes that complement the restaurant’s playful and dynamic atmosphere.
A Drink to Start: Affordable Cocktails
While lasagne is the main attraction, Senza Fondo also offers great deals on drinks. The restaurant’s signature Negroni is priced at just £5—a significant discount from the usual £9.50.
Guests can enjoy their drinks at the Kevin Lasagna Bar, named after the Italian footballer Kevin Lasagna. The bar area is decorated with football memorabilia, adding a touch of fun and flair to the dining experience.
A Restaurant Built on People and Passion
Senza Fondo is the realization of founder Joe Worthington’s dream of creating a restaurant centered around the joy of communal dining. Worthington, who has an extensive background in hospitality, has worked as a beverage manager at Australian hospitality groups and UK-based Hawksmoor steak restaurants. He believes that larger portions and more energy are the key ingredients missing from the London restaurant scene.
“My restaurant will be all about the people,” says Worthington. “When great people come together, magic happens—and that’s what Senza Fondo is all about. That, and serving the best lasagne in London.”
What’s Next for Senza Fondo?
In addition to the main dining experience, Senza Fondo plans to introduce a lunchtime hatch offering a ‘Lasangwich’—a lasagne-inspired sandwich—for busy Londoners on their lunch breaks. While the details of this offering remain a mystery, it’s sure to be another exciting addition to the restaurant’s innovative menu.
Whether you’re craving bottomless lasagne or a quick Lasangwich, Senza Fondo is set to become a must-visit destination for food lovers in London.
