Holland America Line is enhancing its “Made Fresh Daily” culinary offerings with a wider variety of freshly prepared dishes. Guests on board can now enjoy a range of freshly made items, including baguettes, spaghetti, and made-to-order pizza. The cruise line is also serving up freshly made gelato, waffle cones, pastries, and desserts every day.
This summer, the line will introduce a new signature bread: sourdough raisin with pumpkin seed. This bread will be available every night in the Pinnacle Grill and on dressy nights in the dining room across the entire fleet.
A Focus on Fresh, From Bread to Pasta
“When bread or pasta is made fresh, you can certainly taste the difference,” said Michael Stendebach, vice president of food, beverage, and rooms division for Holland America Line. “We are constantly evaluating our culinary program to find ways to make more dishes from scratch, which helps bring our Destination Dining concept to life.”
Italian-Inspired Menus by Chef Ethan Stowell
Chef Ethan Stowell has created a fresh, Italian-inspired menu for the Lido Market, offering a variety of pasta dishes such as:
Tortiglioni with basil pesto, haricot vert, and baby potatoes
Paccheri with spicy tomato, shrimp, and parsley
Spaghetti with beef and ricotta meatballs, basil, and tomato
Casarecce with beef short rib bolognese
Baked conchiglie with mozzarella and tomato basil
At New York Pizza, Stowell has also introduced the “Primo,” a new pizza topped with salami, pickled peppers, and red onion on a freshly made crust.
Cooking Classes with Sur La Table
Holland America Line is once again partnering with Sur La Table to offer cooking classes nationwide. Participants will have the opportunity to prepare dishes inspired by the cruise line’s Destination Dining program.
This month, the new class “Made from Scratch Ravioli with Holland America Line” will teach guests how to make smoked salmon ravioli with vodka cream sauce, Swiss chard and ricotta ravioli with lemon brown butter, and stroopwafel apple crumble.
“Our first class on fresh fish with Sur La Table was a great success, and we’re excited to expand our partnership,” said Kacy Cole, chief marketing officer for Holland America Line. “This new class will give participants a taste of dishes inspired by the over 140 ports we visit across Europe.”
Holland America Line continues to focus on providing fresh, high-quality meals, ensuring a premium dining experience for all guests.
