Ben & Jerry’s is bringing back its highly anticipated Free Cone Day on Tuesday, April 8, offering fans across the nation the chance to enjoy free ice cream.
What to Expect on Free Cone Day
On April 8, ice cream lovers can head to any Ben & Jerry’s scoop shop to receive one free scoop of their favorite flavor. While each person is limited to one scoop at a time, the ice cream chain encourages fans to get back in line as many times as they’d like to score unlimited scoops throughout the day.
This year’s Free Cone Day will feature fan-favorite flavors like Cherry Garcia and Half Baked, as well as new creations such as Dulce De-lish! and Turtle Sundae. Dulce De-lish! is a salted caramel ice cream with pecan toffee pieces and caramel swirls, while Turtle Sundae combines ice cream with pretzel swirls and fudge-covered almonds.
A Record-Breaking Tradition
Last year, Ben & Jerry’s gave away 1 million scoops of ice cream on Free Cone Day, and they are hoping to break that record this year. The event, which started in 1979, was originally created as a thank you from co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield to their customers who supported them during their first winter in Vermont.
Free Cone Day has since become an annual tradition and a beloved event for ice cream enthusiasts.
Dairy Queen Joins the Fun with Free Cone Day
In addition to Ben & Jerry’s, Dairy Queen has also announced its own Free Cone Day. On March 20, the first day of spring, Dairy Queen will be offering a free small vanilla soft serve ice cream cone to customers. There is a limit of one free cone per person, and no purchase is necessary.
Dairy Queen is also giving some lucky fans the chance to win Free Cone Day for an entire year. By signing up for DQ Rewards between now and March 19, customers can enter for a chance to win a year’s worth of free cones.
As both ice cream giants prepare for their respective Free Cone Days, fans can look forward to a sweet start to the spring season.
