Sandusky Restaurant Week is back for its fifth annual event, running from March 5 through March 12, 2025, offering a great opportunity for locals and visitors to experience the best of the area’s culinary scene. This weeklong celebration of food features 27 local restaurants, including Crush Wine Bar, 145 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio, which is offering special dishes such as Beef Tartare, Frutti di Mare, and a Sushi Roll.
Supporting Local Restaurants
Organized by the Greater Sandusky Partnership (also known as Destination Sandusky on social media), Restaurant Week is designed to support local businesses during one of the slower times of the year. McKenzie Spriggs of the Greater Sandusky Partnership shared, “We have a great culinary scene here, but of course, this is one of our slowest parts of the year, so this is to support the businesses.”
One of the unique aspects of Restaurant Week is that it gives restaurants a chance to try out new menu items, many of which end up becoming permanent features. Locals can enjoy these special dishes while also witnessing the creative process behind new offerings.
A Celebration for Locals and Visitors
While the event kicked off with a Fat Tuesday party, the week is all about spotlighting local culinary talent and encouraging residents and visitors alike to explore Sandusky’s diverse dining options. Andrea Crawford, the owner of Crush Wine Bar, emphasized the importance of supporting independent restaurants. “I want people to remember that we’re here, and all the other independent restaurants,” Crawford said. “All the money you spend in the restaurant stays as local as it can. It’s not a corporate restaurant. Decisions about the menu or about the service or about the atmosphere, they’re made sometimes in the minute with the people in the building, and it can be a very personal experience.”
So, whether you’re a local or just visiting, make sure to indulge in Sandusky’s food offerings and enjoy a personalized dining experience this Restaurant Week.
