After a successful launch in San Francisco, Alora expands its reach with a second location, Alora Social, now open at the City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon. The restaurant, which opened on March 4, is the brainchild of restaurateurs Anu and Vikram Bhambri. Known for their Michelin Guide-recognized establishments such as ROOH Progressive Indian and Pippal in Emeryville, the Bhambri team has created Alora Social to offer a casual, family-friendly take on Mediterranean cuisine.
A Relaxed Atmosphere with Mediterranean Flavors
Alora Social, led by Executive Chef Nicholas Peters, builds upon the legacy of the original Alora in San Francisco while adapting the menu to cater to a more relaxed, residential community. The restaurant focuses on shareable plates, hearty pastas, and Mediterranean-inspired dips, perfect for a family or group dining experience. The space is designed to be a gathering place for friends, family, and neighbors to enjoy thoughtfully crafted food in a warm, welcoming environment.
“We envisioned Alora Social as a place for people to come together and share great food in a casual setting,” says Anu Bhambri. “We are excited to bring Alora’s high-quality Mediterranean flavors to San Ramon and the Bishop Ranch community.”
Menu Highlights at Alora Social
The menu at Alora Social features a variety of Mediterranean dishes designed for sharing, including expanded pasta options and flavorful dips. Highlights include:
Spring Pea Hummus: A fresh blend of spring peas, mint, preserved lemon, and dukkah.
Moutabal: A smoky dip made with charred eggplant, creamy yogurt, garlic, and lemon.
Sampler Platter: A more robust option with five Mediterranean-inspired dishes.
Wild Mushroom Dolma: A vegetarian take on stuffed grape leaves.
Sigara Borek: Spinach and feta-filled spring rolls inspired by spanakopita.
For pasta lovers, the menu includes both dry and fresh pasta varieties such as:
Colonne Pompei: Fusilli with creamy vodka tomato sauce, inspired by Chef Peters’ childhood.
Fruti de Mare: A seafood pasta with a tomato-based sauce.
Firin Makarana: Turkish-style mac and cheese with a rich, egg yolk-enriched texture.
Side dishes include Kumpir, a Turkish baked potato with a cheesy interior, topped with vegetables and olives.
Focus on Quality Ingredients
Alora Social takes pride in using high-quality, house-made ingredients, such as its fermented probiotic yogurt, which is featured in several dishes. An upcoming Greek-style frozen yogurt program will offer toppings like olive oil, salt, baklava, and affogato.
“We’re bringing the same dedication to flavor as Alora SF but in a more relaxed, fun atmosphere perfect for this community,” says Chef Nicholas Peters.
Beverage and Coffee Offerings
The beverage program at Alora Social complements the food menu with Mediterranean-inspired cocktails and a curated selection of local and imported wines. Guests can also enjoy a variety of local brews on the eight rotating draft taps. A café and retail space, set to open soon, will serve coffee and tea inspired by Mediterranean flavors in partnership with Pleasanton’s Rhythm Coffee Company.
Happy hour is available Monday through Friday, offering special pricing on food and drinks.
Relaxed Design with Indoor-Outdoor Seating
The design of Alora Social reflects its inviting, laid-back ethos. The indoor-outdoor space includes a large patio with fire pits, cabanas, and plenty of seating. While the patio will be available upon opening, the expansive courtyard will be completed by summer, enhancing the restaurant’s social and seasonal dining experience.
