Toledo is set to celebrate Native American culture with a forum and luncheon that will feature storytelling, history, and traditional cuisine. The event will take place at the Sofia Quintero Art and Cultural Center this Saturday.

Honoring Native American Heritage

The forum, organized by the Committee of 500 Years of Dignity and Resistance in partnership with the Sofia Quintero Art and Cultural Center, aims to honor and preserve Native American heritage. The event will provide a platform for Indigenous communities, fostering cultural understanding and unity within the local area.

According to organizers, the day will focus on giving voice to local Indigenous leaders, who will share their personal experiences, cultural traditions, and traditional recipes with attendees.

The event will also feature a curated menu inspired by Native American culinary traditions. Attendees can look forward to dishes such as buffalo stew, wild rice casserole, frybread, roasted root vegetables with pawpaw sauce, and a blue and yellow corn cupcake filled with wojapi, a Lakota Sioux berry sauce. These offerings aim to showcase the rich and diverse flavors of Native American cuisine.

Event Details

The forum and luncheon will run from 2 to 4 p.m. at 1225 Broadway St., Toledo. Ticket prices for the event range from “pay what you can” to $20, allowing for accessibility to all.
