Los Charros Opens in Former Casa Mexico Location

by Ella

Los Charros, a family-owned Mexican restaurant, has officially opened its doors in the former Casa Mexico location at 2806 Mount Pleasant St. in Burlington. The new restaurant brings a fresh and exciting take on authentic Mexican cuisine, focusing on grilled fare such as ribeye and T-bone steaks, grilled chicken, seafood dishes, and more. Alongside these hearty meals, Los Charros also offers a variety of refreshing beverages, including Pepsi products, beer, margaritas, and cocktails.

A Menu Full of Fresh Flavors

Known for its commitment to quality, Los Charros prides itself on serving fresh food made every day. From the chips and salsa (which are not store-bought) to every dish on the menu, the kitchen delivers a flavorful experience for all who visit. According to Jackelin Jacinto, Lydia Hidalgo’s sister, who is the manager and part-owner of the Burlington location, the fresh approach is at the heart of the restaurant.

Whether you’re craving something simple like tacos and nachos or a more elaborate meal like grilled steaks or seafood, Los Charros has something for everyone. The most popular dish so far has been Alan’s Special, a flavorful combination of Mexican rice, grilled chicken, and a generous topping of cheese sauce, served with tortillas. The chicken fajitas and taco salads are also crowd favorites.

Western-Themed Atmosphere with a Unique Touch

Renovations to the building’s interior have given the restaurant a Western-themed look with accents like wagon wheels on the walls and cactus decor. A standout feature is the bar counter, which is completely covered in pennies, providing a unique and shiny touch to the dining experience. The owners wanted to create a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets it apart from other restaurants.

A Warm Welcome and Enthusiastic Service

Although the opening day was modest, the response from locals has been overwhelmingly positive. Jacinto shared that customers have been very welcoming and are already enjoying the food and the atmosphere. It’s clear that the friendly service is just as important as the delicious food at Los Charros.

Johnny Hidalgo, the owner/operator, who hails from Mexico and has roots in Burlington, is thrilled with the outcome so far. His previous experience working in Burlington, where he waited tables years ago at the former Casa Fiesta, has only added to his commitment to providing great food and service.

Los Charros Operating Hours and Future Plans

Los Charros is currently open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. While the restaurant is not yet accepting carryout orders or reservations, customers can enjoy both booth and table seating. As the business grows, Johnny Hidalgo has plans to introduce even more changes, from the menu to both indoor and outdoor remodeling.

Los Charros has already become a hit in the community, offering delicious food and excellent service. The team is eager to continue delivering a great experience for their guests.
