Tigerbite, a popular fast-food restaurant chain with locations across Staffordshire and Cheshire, is set to open its 11th venue in Blackburn town centre. The new restaurant will take over the space previously occupied by Sofra Turkish Cuisine, located opposite the Reel Cinema and King George’s Hall on Blakey Moor Terrace.
Known for its wide variety of fast food, Tigerbite will offer an extensive menu featuring burgers, pizzas, kebabs, gelato ice creams, shakes, and waffles. The restaurant is particularly famous for its pizzas, with both 14-inch and 20-inch options available. Pizzas will be the main focus when the restaurant opens.
Grand Opening Set for April 14
New signage has already been installed at the site, and the owners are aiming for an official opening on Monday, April 14. The Blackburn location will be Tigerbite’s 11th restaurant, with another new venue slated to open in Stockport in May.
A spokesperson for Tigerbite explained that while their previous locations primarily focus on home delivery, the Blackburn restaurant will offer an opportunity to diversify their services and expand the brand. “Blackburn provides us with a unique opportunity to test new ground and gain valuable insights as we continue to grow,” the spokesperson said.
Special Opening Offer: £1 Pizzas
To celebrate the grand opening, Tigerbite will offer eight-inch pizzas for just £1 on opening day for walk-in customers. The restaurant expects to sell close to 1,000 pizzas, a tradition for their grand openings.
“We always run our eight-inch pizza for £1 on opening day, which gives people a chance to come down, see the venue, and try our food,” the spokesperson added.
In addition to its home delivery service, the restaurant will feature a 40-seat capacity, catering to those who prefer a quick meal in the bustling town centre. Customers will have the option to order via QR codes at their tables, through self-service kiosks, or by traditional counter ordering.
Blakey Moor Area Undergoing Transformation
The new Tigerbite location is situated on Blakey Moor, an area currently undergoing significant redevelopment as part of the Townscape Heritage Project. Funded by Blackburn with Darwen Council and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project aims to restore historic buildings in the Northgate Conservation Area, with work already completed on five buildings.
Despite the ongoing construction, Tigerbite is optimistic about the location, and it will join other businesses in the revitalized area. Blakey Moor remains accessible via Barton Street, as work continues on the College’s Victoria building, which is set to be completed by 2026.
Tigerbite’s entry into Blackburn signals the continued evolution of the town centre as it undergoes major redevelopment, offering residents and visitors new dining options as the area transforms.
