The Nigeria Food Summit 2025 has made significant strides in positioning Nigerian cuisine globally. Industry leaders, chefs, and policymakers gathered to explore the culinary potential of the nation and its growing influence on the world’s food scene.
The summit, which took place at the Landmark Centre in Lagos, was centered around the theme “Making Nigeria a Global Food Destination.”
A Platform for Collaboration
The second edition of the summit provided a valuable platform for various stakeholders, including farmers, chefs, food tech innovators, and industry leaders. Together, they discussed ways to strengthen Nigeria’s food value chain and drive innovation across the sector.
Gbolabo Adebakin, also known as Chef Gibbs and the summit convener, stressed the importance of showcasing Nigeria’s diverse culinary heritage. He stated, “Nigeria’s culinary heritage is one of the richest in the world, yet it remains under-represented. We must innovate and collaborate to harness its full potential.”
Major Announcements at the Summit
One of the most notable moments during the event was the announcement by Kola Oyeneyin, who revealed a $1,000,000 fund aimed at supporting food businesses in Nigeria. Oyeneyin explained, “The Nigerian food industry has immense potential, but without funding structures, growth will stall.” He urged entrepreneurs to take advantage of the available opportunities to further develop their businesses.
Pitch-a-thon and Emerging Winners
The summit also hosted a Pitch-a-thon, where Elizabeth Akinwole of Tblizs Foods emerged as the winner. Akinwole won one million naira in business support, along with a sponsored resort trip, branding services, and business advisory assistance, helping her to further grow her food business.
