Major Changes Coming to Vancouver’s Waterfront Pub

by Ella

Vancouver’s waterfront restaurant, Mahony’s on False Creek, has been sold, and major changes are on the way for the location at 601 Stamps Landing. The iconic pub will operate under a pop-up concept this summer, before undergoing significant renovations to prepare for a new restaurant, Mishree on the Water, set to open in 2026.

Mahony’s Bids Farewell to False Creek

Founder Pete Mahony announced the sale of the restaurant on the Mahony’s website. He shared that while leaving the False Creek location, which opened in 2014, was difficult, it also marks an exciting new chapter for the business.

“We will miss our False Creek home, but this isn’t goodbye—it’s a new beginning,” Mahony wrote. He expressed gratitude for the support and friendships built over the years.

Mahony’s still operates a location at the Vancouver Convention Centre, and the sale of the False Creek venue allows the team to focus on the remaining restaurant. Mahony is excited about the ongoing renovations at the Vancouver Convention Centre location, promising the same great hospitality.

New Pop-Up Concept for the Summer

Mishree Restaurant Concepts, the new owners of the False Creek site, will operate under the Mahony’s name for the summer. A new 300-seat pop-up called “The Bae Side” will open on the patio, offering a fresh food menu and a focus on craft cocktails.

Shraey Gulati, managing director of Mishree Restaurant Concepts, explained that the pop-up would introduce an evolved menu, designed by Mishree Cocktails and Cuisine. Mishree is a high-end Indian restaurant based in Mississauga, part of a group that includes Delta’s Tandoori Flame.

Major Renovations to Begin in 2025

In October 2025, the restaurant will close for renovations, with an estimated $5-6 million being spent on upgrades. The space will be transformed into a bohemian-inspired venue, Mishree on the Water, which Gulati says will offer a diverse menu that includes Pan-Asian, Mexican, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and Indian cuisine.

The revamped restaurant will span 11,000 square feet over two stories. The downstairs area will seat 500 people, including an extended covered patio. The second floor will feature an event space capable of hosting up to 250 guests.

Mishree on the Water is expected to open its doors in the spring of 2026, bringing a fresh, vibrant dining experience to Vancouver’s waterfront.
