Holy Puff, a new dessert bar in Oakville, is making waves with its unique take on a classic Mediterranean treat. Located at 358 Speers Rd., Unit 102, the dessert bar has been delighting customers with its freshly made puffs and other sweet offerings since opening five months ago.
Mediterranean Puffs: A New Twist on a Classic
Wafa Momani, the owner of Holy Puff, describes the shop’s signature treat as “like biting into a cloud.” The bite-sized puffs are the star attraction at Holy Puff, with the shop offering a range of gourmet sauces, including Amarena, dulce de leche, mango, maple, and pistachio, along with extra toppings like M&M’s, Kit Kat, Oreo, Biscoff, and sprinkles.
While traditional Mediterranean puffs are often drizzled with honey or sugar syrup infused with rosewater, Momani opted for sauces that appeal to the North American palate. “They may look like Timbits, but they don’t taste anything like them,” she said.
These puffs, which have a history dating back to the medieval period, are a popular choice at Holy Puff. According to Momani, they account for about 60% of the store’s sales. The puffs are also a hit among vegan customers as they are free from animal byproducts.
Freshly Made and Always Delicious
Momani and her husband prepare the puffs in-house. The dough is made fresh each morning, and the puffs are fried only when ordered. “Everything is made fresh,” Momani explained, noting that it only takes five minutes to fry and dress the puffs.
Holy Halos: A Perfect Blend of Elegance and Indulgence
In addition to puffs, Holy Puff offers another specialty item: halos. Momani describes these as a fusion of croissants and doughnuts, combining elegance with indulgence. Like the puffs, the halos come with a variety of gourmet sauces and toppings.
Momani discovered her love for the delicate pastry after enjoying it at a restaurant. She then sought out a source to bring them to her dessert bar. “Our Holy Halos are the perfect blend of elegance and indulgence,” she said.
Viral Dubai Chocolate Bars
Holy Puff also serves two flavors of the Dubai chocolate bar – pistachio and Biscoff – both of which gained popularity on social media. “It’s rich, delicious, and a little bite goes a long way,” Momani said, adding that she sources the chocolate bars from a local supplier in Toronto.
Premium Ingredients for a Premium Experience
At Holy Puff, quality is key. All products, from puffs and halos to funnel cakes, churros, ice creams, milkshakes, and coffee, are made with premium ingredients. The ice cream is locally sourced, and the specialty coffee is a Nicaraguan blend roasted in Thorold, Ontario.
“Even though some desserts are Mediterranean inspired, this is a dessert shop for everybody,” Momani said. She emphasizes that Holy Puff aims to create a welcoming space for families and people of all ages.
A Community-Oriented Space
Momani’s vision for Holy Puff goes beyond just serving desserts. She wants to create a space where families can come together and enjoy quality time. To enhance the experience, a hockey table ($2 per play) will soon be added to the dessert bar. Momani believes the small fee is well worth the enjoyment it provides, especially when compared to spending time at an arcade.
“I want it (Holy Puff) to be a place of community where families and kids can come hang out,” she said. “That’s why it’s important for me to have excellent coffee and tea (for the adults) as well.”

At Holy Puff, customers are not only treated to premium products but also receive dedicated service. “We take the time to get to know our customers,” Momani said, emphasizing the importance of building connections within the community.
Holy Puff continues to attract dessert lovers from Oakville and beyond, offering a fresh twist on Mediterranean treats and creating a space for families to come together.
