Channel One TV and Citi FM successfully hosted the 2025 Back to Your Village Food Festival, wrapping up on Sunday, March 30. The event was a vibrant celebration of Ghanaian culture and cuisine, bringing together thousands of attendees for an unforgettable two-day experience.
A Feast of Flavor and Culture
The festival, which began on Saturday, March 29, offered a unique opportunity to explore Ghana’s diverse culinary landscape. From the northern regions to the coastal areas, the event showcased the country’s rich food heritage.
Attendees were treated to a variety of authentic Ghanaian dishes, each reflecting the distinct flavors of different regions. Traditional meals like jollof rice, banku and tilapia, fufu with light soup, and various local stews were among the festival’s highlights. To complement these dishes, refreshing Ghanaian beverages such as palm wine, fresh fruit juices, and locally brewed drinks added to the cultural immersion.
Keynote Address by Sylvester Mensah
One of the event’s standout moments was the attendance of Sylvester Mensah, the Acting Chief Executive of the Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM), who made a special appearance on March 29. During his speech, Mensah encouraged participants to look beyond local markets and explore opportunities in food processing and packaging for export. He underscored the need to position Ghanaian cuisine on the global stage, promoting the country’s unique flavors and food products internationally.
His remarks were well-received, inspiring local food vendors, producers, and chefs to consider expanding their reach beyond Ghana’s borders.
A Celebration of Music and Dance
The Back to Your Village Food Festival was not just about food. It was also a lively celebration of Ghanaian music and dance. Attendees enjoyed vibrant performances from popular bands such as Just Groove Band, Dromo Naa Band, Kwan Pa, and Edzordzinam Fafafli Borborbor.
