Israeli celebrity chef Eyal Shani has announced the opening of a new restaurant inside a luxury hotel in Kibbutz Nir Am, located near the Gaza Strip border. This new eatery will be part of a future hotel development and will be managed in collaboration with The Better Guys restaurant group.
Hotel and Restaurant Details
The planned hotel, with 55 rooms, is being developed by the Fundamental hospitality group and will be located in an area that lacks sufficient lodging options. It is reported that at least $22 million will be invested in the project. The restaurant will cater to both hotel guests and the general public, offering a high-end dining experience.
The Significance of Kibbutz Nir Am
Nir Am gained international attention after the October 7, 2023, attacks when its armed emergency squad successfully repelled Hamas terrorists from entering the community. This act of resilience was led by Inbal Rabin Lieberman, and the kibbutz held off the attackers for several hours until Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) arrived.
Economic Boost for Western Negev
The new hotel, which is scheduled to open by 2028, is expected to boost the local economy of the Western Negev. The region, which has struggled with a lack of tourist accommodations, hopes that the development will attract both Israeli and international visitors.
Nir Am representatives have already signed a memorandum of understanding with investors from Israel and the United States to move forward with the hotel project. Kibbutz Nir Am’s business director, Roi Ben Yehud, expressed optimism about the hotel’s potential to bring more tourists to the area.
