This city loves a mono-food outlet – think burgers at Junk, steaks at Le Relais, – you guessed it – shortbread at Humble Crumble. And now we can bring you the latest superfood news in town… butter.
Butter LDN is a new concept coming to London that’s hoping dairy lovers will visit their outlets soon. They’re after those foodies who plan to peruse the butter wall at La Grande Épicerie in Paris. If you’ve been to L’Avant Comptoir in Paris or enjoyed butter service at Quality Bistro in New York, you’ll know what kind of butter love we’re talking about.
They’ve opened in the heart of Soho, and while butter might be a secondary consideration elsewhere, it’s going to be top of mind here. On the menu are raw butter from Bungay, cultured butter from The Estate Dairy and butter rolls from Netherend in Gloucestershire. Abroad, they’ve sourced Glenilen Farmhouse Butter from Ireland, and there’ll be an entire section on the menu dedicated to French butter. They also make their own butter in-store – Frail Loop butter is a low-waste butter made from milk from within 20 miles of London.
Once you’ve picked your butter, you can choose what to pair it with, from sourdough baguettes, grilled asparagus, roast potatoes to dessert – homemade fruitcake. We were told there wouldn’t be any dairy-free alternatives on the menu, so sadly there wouldn’t be anything for vegetarians.
