DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Perkins restaurant in Decatur abruptly closed on Tuesday.
The restaurant is located at 2999 N. Monroe Street, on the corner with W. Pershing Road.
A sign on the door reads, “We are sad to announce that this Perkins restaurant is temporarily closed.” Two people coming out of the restaurant told a WAND News photographer that they did not know when the restaurant would reopen. They did not reveal the reason for the restaurant’s closure.
Perkins Restaurant and Bakery is owned by Ascent Hospitality Management, which owns Perkins and Huddle House. Most of the locations are franchised to local owners.
Macon County property records show that Blackstone Group owns the property. It is not clear who operates the location.
Perkins has hundreds of stores across the United States, including four in Illinois.
Perkins’ closure is temporary, but other Decatur-area restaurants are set to close permanently, including Huddle House in January and Sonic and Hickory River Smokehouse by the end of 2024.
