Last year, chef Claude Bosi and his wife Lucy opened a French bistro in Chelsea to great reviews. However, for those of us who don’t live in west London, the restaurant isn’t easily accessible by public transport.
We’ve been hearing rumours that the chef is planning a new restaurant in a more central location, and finally they’ve confirmed that a Marylebone opening is imminent.
Bosi has taken over the space at Daylesford Organic, a sizeable space on Blandford Street. The restaurant will once again focus on French cooking, and while the original Chelsea restaurant was Lyon-focused, this one will focus more on “19th century Parisian bistro culture”. The food will apparently be based on the bistros that Bosi visited while working for Alain Ducasse and Alain Passard in Paris. The menu here will include:
Camembert cheese souffle (different from the excellent St. Felicien cheese souffle in Chelsea)
Mainly seafood-focused, including oysters, homade mayonnaise, lobster and rose bonito
Classic dishes like foie gras and steak tartare
And main courses like beef tenderloin fillet and braised chicken
The original Josephine’s rum baba cheese will also be available here, along with a Cointreau orange wine souffle and a selection of French cheeses.
They will also be adding a breakfast menu to this location. So for your morning meal, you can go for the light Birch muesli with apple and pomegranate, or be a bit more indulgent and go for scrambled eggs with black truffles. Of course, it will be served with a freshly baked baguette.
The new location will have an outdoor patio (which seats 16 people), while the interior design will be inspired by classic French bistros and brasserie. So if you haven’t been to Josephine’s in Chelsea yet, this new location will be a must-visit.
