If you’ve been to Piccadilly Circus recently, perhaps on your way to nearby The Devonshire, you may have seen Black Tap Burger open for business. Not familiar with them? Let us help you out.
They’re a New York burger chain, but they’ve opened a UK branch at Westfield Stratford. This is their flagship burger spot in a more central part of London, and as for the menu, there are two key elements to note. First, of course, the burgers. As well as the Pizza Burger (with ketchup, fried mozzarella, Parmesan slices) and the Old Fashioned (with mushrooms, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, horseradish sauce), you’ll also find more traditional cheeseburgers.
At this location, they’ve added the London Burger, which has Stinky Bishop cheese, Sammy Smith’s cider jam, watercress, radishes and Dijon mustard vinaigrette.
There’s also a fish and chip sandwich and a chicken burger, but if you’re planning on going, you’ll want to save room for Black Tap’s other big hit – the Craze Shakes. These creative drinks feature the main part of the milkshake made up of extra ingredients, like a whole piece of cake, chocolate brownie or (they’re targeting the UK market) Jammie Dodgers.
As for the new exclusive milkshake, it’s the Big Apple, with a cream cheese frosting around the rim, classic graham cracker crumbs, a slice of New York cheesecake and a whole British playground-style toffee apple. It’s anything but humble.
So if you’re looking for a new burger to try or a place to grab a dessert – this is worth considering.
