It’s been ages since we’ve had a crazy pop-up in Soho, but this next one definitely counts. It’s from KitKat, and for reasons we don’t quite understand, they’ve decided to celebrate by opening a Blockbuster store on Greek Street.
Apparently (in a recent survey) Blockbuster was recently named one of the five most missed shops on the high street – apparently by those who can’t remember going there on a Friday night with only a smattering of family entertainment left on the shelves. All that aside, it’s all about KikKat’s new bars (and “relaxing together in the evening”), so there will be free chocolates and video downloads in the store.
You can browse the shelves, pick a video, and take it to the counter. Instead of being told “sorry, the last one is sold out”, you’ll receive a streaming code and a new KitKat bar (which is exactly what this promotion is all about). The bars come in double chocolate, salted caramel and hazelnut flavours. And of course, all the bars are free.
So if you’re in Soho in early April and wondering why there’s a line outside the Blockbuster store – this is why.
