Sino To Bring Modern Ukrainian Cuisine To Notting Hill

by Ella

Following the recent opening of Tatar Bunar, another Ukrainian restaurant is coming to London. Sino is the brainchild of Polina Sychova and chef Eugene Korolev, who has worked at Michelin-starred restaurants across Europe.

Sino means “hay” in Ukrainian, which is reflected in its sophisticated starter menu, which includes:

Hay-infused wild mushroom soup

Eggplant marinated with dill flowers, fennel and garlic, served with Kyyrma bread

Beef tartare with porcini sabayon, Jerusalem artichoke chips and lovage oil

Cherry-grilled catfish, fried parsley root, samphire, kofbasa sausage, dry-ground mussels and sweet pepper sauce

Oxtail dumplings with spicy beef broth and homemade mushroom sauce

Aged walnut ice cream with smoked plum chocolate mousse

Ukrainian bartender Ana Reznik (formerly of A Bar with Shapes for a Name) is in charge of cocktails, including a buckwheat milk punch made with buckwheat, cardamom, vanilla and aged rum.

It occupies the space that once belonged to the 7 Saints restaurant, and as per its name, you’ll see hay motifs throughout the space.
