Mayfair residents wondering what’s happening with the old Ruya site next door to Corrigan’s on Upper Grosvenor Street will have a new restaurant on their doorstep before the end of the year. It turns out the restaurant has been bought by the Thesleff Group, which also owns Los Mochis in Notting Hill, Sale e Pepe in Knightsbridge and the Juno and Luna omakase restaurants.
At the moment, we don’t know exactly what they’re planning, as the contract has only just been signed. But we do know that it won’t be a remake of their existing restaurant, but a completely new concept. There’s plenty of space here, so there’s plenty of room for them to get creative.
“This acquisition is more than just a new address, it’s a return,” said Markus Thesleff, whose first hotel project was the Pangaea club in Mayfair, which was a regular haunt of Prince Harry before Meghan’s wedding. “Mayfair has always been part of my story… With the new concept, we’re not trying to redefine Mayfair, we’re just trying to bring our hospitality here.”
We’ll bring you more news as it becomes available.
